Tom Okumu is a highly dynamic and experienced business leader with an impressive career spanning over 29 years, primarily focused on infrastructure project development, and the thermal and renewable energy sectors. As a seasoned Head of Business Development, Tom has garnered a reputation for his strategic acumen and his exceptional ability to propel company growth, enhance market presence, and secure lucrative deals through careful planning, acquisition, and implementation.

His professional journey is marked by a series of prestigious roles, including his current position as the Business Development Director for East Africa at Encomm Power Limited. In this role, Tom leads a team of five business development managers across diverse jurisdictions in Africa, driving the development of sustainable solutions that save energy, reduce costs, and minimize operational maintenance for customers’ facilities. His expertise in negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and energy supply contracts has been pivotal in expanding Encomm Power’s portfolio across sub-Saharan Africa.

Previously, Tom has held the title of Senior Regional Sales Manager for East Africa at Aggreko International Projects Ltd, where he was responsible for spearheading sales strategies across 15 countries, achieving revenue targets, and nurturing a culture of sales excellence and customer service which contributed significantly to the company’s growth.
